Welfare Hospital in Dubai is offering free tests for:

- diabetes
- blood pressure
- cholesterol

at the Meridian Airport hotel on 9th April. There are also talks on cardiac surgery, diabetes and other heart conditions.

A recent World Health Organisation study found that 50 per cent of people in the Middle East are obese, and more worryingly, 70 per cent of Saudi children are obese.

So it's worth going for a check-up, particularly if you don't have health insurance, as it's free.

.....that obesity was so prevalent in Saudi! You hear so much about childhood obesity in the US and UK I guess it overshadows other countries.

It's very worrying when you consider how many must be in a pre-diabetic state and the mamouth task and expense of treating them if it develops! Folowing a good diabetes diet plan (diabetesdiet-plan.com) is good for anyone whether they are diabetic or not and a fansatic way to combat obesity too.

The food over in Dubai looks delicious and on the whole, healthy. It's just a matter of balancing the ratios and quantities :)
